akumassa (roughly translated "i-mass" or "i'm the mass") is a media empowerment program initiated by Forum Lenteng since 2008, collaborating with local communities in various regions in Indonesia to hold workshops and produce several forms of media communications (article, image, audio, and video).
akumassa (a merge of two words: "aku" ("i") and "massa" ("mass") was planned by Forum Lenteng as a work of community media that puts forward the perspectives of the mass to respond to social phenomenons, specifically small narratives and events of the mass identical to a site, and media issues corresponding with historical context and its contemporary development. This program engages with the basic framework of media literacy and citizen journalism approach.
akumassa was working on a project to revisit its earlier works in several sites (Lebak, Blora, Cirebon, Jatiwangi, North Lombok) that framed local issues into its citizen journalism approach and studied the development of the sites and their respective issues 5-9 years after. I worked as a Research Assistant in this project. I studied their earlier works, the issues and framings, and revisited the sites to research their current situations and analyzed their developments through the years.

The work was exploring, understanding, and conceptualizing "bromocorah" throughout the preparation phase, to organize the panels on the D-Day, and to translate the materials for the book.

ARKIPEL – Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival was initiated by Forum Lenteng to read a global phenomenon in social, political, economic and cultural contexts through cinema. Of cinema, it is expected to capture the global society phenomenon, both in terms of aesthetic and socio-political context through the language of documentary and experimental filmmaking.
I was appointed as a reporter and translator for the News Room of 7th ARKIPEL: bromocorah.

School of Improper Education is an experimental education platform to imagine alternative methods to the formal education as we know, concocted under KUNCI Cultural Studies Center, a collective focusing on artistic knowledge producing and sharing.
School of Improper Education is asked to share their thoughts and experience on collective practices under the project of "A Lasting Truth" by... some museum in Netherlands. (I kind of forgot the name, I'll get back as soon I remember it.) For the project, members of School of Improper Education wrote "Scenes of Everyday Utopia", an experimental, magical-realist, witty script of imaginings of a utopian-slash-dystopian life. I was asked to translate the script into English.

I worked as discussion panel manager who organized a symposium-like panel discussion with speakers of related experience. I formulated the theme, concept, and materials to be explored in the panel according to the festival's grand theme; I looked for and contacted the speakers to share their experiences and expertise related to the theme; I organized the event at D-Day; and I acted as moderator at the panel.
The panel was exploring the alternative cinematic practices through communities: how communities has grown into platform for alternative filmmaking, film distribution, film criticism, screening, and knowledge-sharing since the fall of the New Order.
